Veranda Bistro was started in 2004 by a banker and a chemist. In addition to pizzas, calzones, and strombolis, it started out offering sandwiches, soups, and a limited selection of entrees. As time has progressed, the selection has grown to a complete Lunch Menu, Dinner Menu, and Customized Catering. The Banker, Irene, has been in banking for over twenty years, and used to bake pies and a variety of desserts for her family's THEODOROU's Restaurant while attending school and later working in Pittsburgh, PA. Irene grew up in the restaurant business, and enjoys sharing her knowledge, experience, and most of all her cooking (Yum, Yum) with others. The Chemist, Chris, has been in the chemical field, encompassing the manufacturing of Specialty Chemicals, Cosmetics, Beverages, Water, and Automotive Parts, for over twenty years. He continues to offer his expertise in these fields by consulting with enterprises concerning environmental and process issues. Chris brings the knowledge of his family's nearly 100 years experience of the restaurant business in Roanoke and beyond,
